Sleep. Dream. Heal

Design research/poetic design

This design outcome was for a research project based on the corrective nature of dreams. When you slip into unconsciousness every night your brains begins reviewing the implications of your day, meshing new emotional concern with older related memories. This process of putting memory experiences together within dreams helps down-regulate highly emotional feelings that may disrupt
our moods and behaviours.

The primary shape used is a circle, being
a symbol of wholeness and unity. Although every page has a different design cut out and these layers reflect varying emotional concerns. As you go threw the process of turning each sheet the shape transforms, it starts to become rounded and eventually morphs into a complete circle, highlighting how the emotion has now been managed. It also points to the idea
that dreams are rarely remembered.
